The Patent Department of the University was founded in April, 1975 to carry out all kinds of works related to inventions.

The main goals of the Department are:

• Formation of a common patent and license policy of the University
• Informational-analytical supply of works on creating intellectual properties
• Legal protection of the objects of intellectual properties arising while realizing educational or scientific activities
• Protection of ownership rights of the University connected with intellectual property objects
• All kinds of assistance to professorial-teaching staff, post-graduates, graduates and students in carrying out scientific research at a high, competitive level.

More than 1800 inventions have been made by the University personnel in the following spheres:

• Electronics

• Electrical Engineering

• Computer Engineering

• Mechanical Engineering

• Chemical Engineering

• Metallurgy

The staff of the Department realizes scientific-methodological management and takes an immediate part in planning and carrying out patent research and works, aimed at raising their level, providing patentability, defense covered by patents, patent purity and concurrence ability, on the basis of which apparatuses and processes are built.

The Department supports the employees of the University and other organizations in  implementation of  the facilities belonging to them and personal rights stipulated by acting legislation. It trains the postgraduates of the University teaching them the principles of legal defense of intellectual property objects.
