Scientific direction:
Friction and Wear of Materials and Machine Elements
Albert Pogosian, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Head of Graduate Division of State Engineering University, Chairman of Armenian Tribology Committee, Vice-President of International Tribology Council, ASME member.
Research Scope:
Polymer-based self-lubricating and asbestos-free composite materials for Low-Friction and High-Friction applications, lubricants and additives, boundary lubrication properties, methods of motion vibrostability at friction, friction transfer, self-lubricating and wear processes. The research particularly includes: the action of mineral fillers in the friction and wear of polymers and lubricants, self-lubricating mechanism and wear in metal-polymer tribocontact, the role of friction transfer in wear of polymers, calculation of metal-polymer tribocontact's characteristics, development of asbestos-free friction materials, stick-slip effects in brake applications, vibro- and squealstability calculations of brakes, braking process modeling in anti-lock system, additives and their action mechanisms in lubricants, the role of inorganic thickeners in plastic lubricants creation, tribological peculiarities of bentonite-based greases, the action of nanoscale fillers in tribological properties of composite materials and machine elements.
