Systems of Computerized Electric Drives

This "Systems of Computerized Electric Drives" course is addressed to those involved and interested in the design and maintenance of the computerized control systems of mechanisms and technical facilities.

Course is focused on the basics of the simulation of the electromechanical systems, concepts of computerized control systems of automation means, as well as the on the methods of design of automated uniform systems of electric drives with programmable microcontrollers.

The courses is organized on the base the Center of Computerized Electra drives attached to the chair of Automation and Electric Drives and equipped with the facilities of Schneider Electric, one of the lead producer of production automation means.

Center technical facilities offers students an opportunity to learn the functioning of electric drive high production computerized systems with advanced network facilities. Center has multimedia teaching materials, modern Russian and English technical literature, as well the presentation facilities providing teaching quality and efficiency.

Syllabus
Course curriculum contains tree 80 hours blocks of study, which total – 240 hours. The fulfillment of hand-on labs and homework and self-preparation is assumed as well. Syllabus includes the following topics:

Information nets structure and functioning
Functioning of technological facilities
Mathematical models of control systems and their structures
Modular concept of aggregation of automated drives
Instrumental means of electric drives control and programming

Control system of the standard technological equipment

Instruction

The "System of Computerized Electric Drives" is a lab- oriented course which is completed by the preparation of a full-scale product with the implementation of all technological stages from system design to testing and documentation.

Course curriculum, comprised of teaching materials, hands-on exercises and labs, is organized in an electronic case-package installed on University's online teaching server. Students could enjoy access possibility to the teaching materials from the workstations of computer classes either via Internet at any time and from any place.

Practice sessions take place in the specialized lab of the Center.

Certification
Students successfully completed course curriculum are conferred by the University certificate.

Prerequisites

The curriculum assumes basic knowledge and skills in Electric Engineering.

Instructors
Classes are taught by the Chair and the Center staff members, including a visiting Professor of Royal Technological Institute of Sweden, each of them with many years of experience in instruction and engineering.
