Sport Centers

The Chair of Physical Training and Sport is located at the sport center of SEUA, which comprises a swimming-pool, basketball, handball, fitness and wrestling gymnasiums.

The Chair has also sport and health centers in Hankavan, Meghradzor and on the bank of Lake Sevan.

The centers are sport centers intended for the organization of the training games of the SEUA students, and during the holidays they serve as an active rest camps for the SEUA students.

Polytechnic-1

“Polytechnic-1” Sport and Health Center was founded in 1959. On the initiative of a group of instructors of the Chair of Physical Training and Sport a tent-camp was organized in one of the picturesque sites of Armenia, in Hankavan Canyon on the bank of the river Marmarik. The construction activities were carried out due to the efforts of the instructors.

Gradually, cottages were brought to the camp and 6 wooden cottages were built. At present, the camp has 18 cottages, each consisting of 4 rooms. In each shift the camp can receive from 120 to 150 holiday-makers. There are many gymnasiums (volleyball, basketball, football field, tennis courts, and 5 badminton courts)and a sauna with a shower cabin. In summer the University teams carry out their training games in volleyball, basketball and football. Here the students with health problems strengthen their health.

Numerous sport activities, tourist excursions to the bank of Lake Sevan, to Meghradzor, to a hot water spring, which is located on the territory of Hankavan Sanatorium, are carried out. The students take curing baths there.

In the evenings, after supper, the students organize a discotheque, where they enjoy their leisure.

Tourist

In 1982, on the initiative of the activists of the Tourist Club, a “Tourist” Sport and Health Tent Center was organized in the picturesque area of Kotayk Region, Meghradzor Village.

At present, in addition to its tents, the Center has cottages on its territory, too. Each cottage can lodge 7 people. In each shift, the Center lodges about 50 holiday-makers. There is a canteen, as well as volleyball and badminton gymnasiums. In future, a football pitch is to be built as well as basketball grounds and tennis courts.

Volleyball, chess, football competitions and unofficial matches with the local youth, as well as with the holiday-makers of “Polytechnic-1” Sport and Health Center are held. Tourist excursions to Lake Sevan, Tsakhkadzor, Hankavan and Hayrivan Church are organized.

In the evenings, the young people sing songs, play the guitar round the fire and organize discotheques.
