Respectable Students and Future Applicants!

It is well known, that life in any country is built on scientific bases and the main merit of the national economy progress is labour productivity which is mainly conditioned by the mastery of new technologies and progress in Science. It is necessary to mention some discrepancy in the development of theoretical and practical work and inadequacy of application of theory in practice. This, in particular, is accounted for by the lack of highly qualified engineers, designers and technicians who could guarantee joint harmonious development of Science and Practice.

Taking into account what is mentioned above, at present, stricter requirements are laid on the graduates of engineering higher educational establishments who will ensure an effective application of scientific achievements in practice.

Armenia is not rich in natural resources. That is why the development of scientific and engineering trends related to high technologies, in particular, radio engineering, communication and radio-electronics is of primary importance. For almost 35 years the Department of Radio Engineering and Communication Systems of SEUA (former YPI) has been the only forge for training highly qualified specialists in the mentioned fields for the needs of the Republic.

These years have been years of maturing, perfection and prosperity. We would like to represent, in brief, the structure of the Department, which is one of the basic and most important units of SEUA. "Radio Engineering and Communication" has been one of the leading and promising branches of Science and Technology. In addition to such traditional branches as Radio Communication, Television, Radiolocation, Radionavigation, etc., they have successfully been introduced into Medicine, Life, Economy and other branches of national economy. The Department of RE and CS was established in 1972, and since then has trained about 5000 specialists.

At present, the Department carries out a multilevel training of engineering specialists, as a result of which the graduates are given the following qualifications:
• Bachelor of Engineering
• Diplomated Engineer (a 5-year study)
• Master of Engineering
• Research- engineer

In the academic year 2002-2003 the Department, first realized the admission of foreign students in the spheres of “Multichannel Telecommunication Systems’ taught in English.

The Department trains specialists in the following fields:

A. A 4-year education according the program of “Bachelor of Engineering”
1. Radio Communication, Broadcasting and Television (20.11)
2. Means of Communication with Moving Objects (20.12)
3. Physics and Techniques of Optical Communication (07.17)
4. Systems of Multichannel Telecommunication (20.10)
5. Domestic Radio-Electronic(20.15)
6. Design and Production of Radio-Electronic Facilities (20.08)
7. Economics and Management of Telecommunication Agencies (06.08)

B. A 5-year education according to the program of Diplomated Engineer in the field of Radio Engineering (20.07)

C. In 2004 at the Department of Tuition by Correspondence of SEUA will be resumed the admission to 6-years training on the speciality "Radio Engineering"

D. In 2004 at the Chair of Radio Engineering and Comminication Fundamantals instead of speciality Domestic Radio Electronics a new speciality "Design and Technology of Radioelectronic Means" will be introdused on the basis of academic programme for bachelors

Since 2001 the best students of the Department have had the opportunity to continue their education at the Interdepartmental Chair of “Microelectronic Circuits and Systems” SEUA on the basis of Synopsys Armenia CJSC SG. Its graduates get acquainted with high technologies and, in future, have the opportunity to be employed in good terms.

A more detailed information about these specialties are available on the Department site.
All the Chairs of the Department have an access to the Internet.

The Department closely cooperates with well known research institutes and enterprises of Armenia (Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, Research Institute of Radio Physics, Yerevan Research Institute of Communication Means, State Television Center of Armenia, “Zvartnots” Airport, “ArmenTel” Co, etc.), having extensive international links. Many graduates of our Department are leading specialists of these and other organizations which are always glad to employ you.

All the Department Faculty wishes you to be a great success in your studies and private life. Green light to You. We invite you to study at our Department.

With best regards H. Stepanyan.
