A number of chemical enterprises
were founded in Armenia in late 20's of the last century. Among them
such giants as Yerevan Chloroprene production plant, and Vanadsor Chemical
Plant were commissioned and operated.
Some time later "Polyvinyl
Acetate", "Chemical Reactive", "Rubber products", "Tyre", etc.
started to work: plants that badly were in need of highly qualified and
well-educated specialists. Several research and design institutes
begun to function to meet the country demand: (i) Institute of General and
Inorganic Chemistry, (ii) Organic Chemistry, (iii) Chemical Physics,
(iv) Fine-organic Chemistry, (v) Institute of Polymer Glues, (vi) Institute of
Polymers, etc.
Faculty of
Chemical Engineering was founded at Yerevan State University as a
first basic higher educational establishment for training/preparing
chemists. Later, on the basis of this Faculty, Chemical department
of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute (later re-named State Engineering University of Armenia)
established forging engineers and researchers for many
fields of practical and theoretical chemical science and
engineering.
For the last 80
years, in several science branches, Armenian chemists of our graduate
have their big say with recognized worldwide
reputation.
Awareness rising in chemical manufacture,
recyclable technologies, sustainable development are the pressing
issues and developments of today's chemical industry which
unavoidably were reflected in our departmental curriculum and
majors to meet the modern educational challenges. Upon joining the Department of Chemical
and Environmental Engineering the students can acquire
deep knowledge in many chemical disciplines (manufacture of organic, silicate,
biologically active materials, electrochemical productions,
bioengineering), as well as environmental engineering shaping
to-days major trends.
The Department collaborates with
leading science, research and design institutes where you could
gain your practice and enhance knowledge during joint work
commencing with 3rd year of your study.
Also,
jointly with Career Centre of our University we seek chances
for our graduates to commence their work career.
