A Press-conference with participation of the management of Synopsys Armenia and SEUA took place at the meeting hall of the Scientific Board of Polytechnic, on April 9. The new joint educational program of the RA technological leader and “giant” in IT field was represented to the journalists and students: to establish a four year bachelor educational course at the Department of Cybernetics on specialty “Semiconductor Physics and Microelectronics”. The course that ensures first-class education in the field of microelectronics will start at the beginning of the 2009-2010 academic year.
Being based on the educational model of University-Industry cooperation, the goal of the program is to train highly qualified specialists who will best correspond to the quality demands made to the personnel of semiconductor industrial companies, which is à necessary factor for ensuring competitiveness of the developing field of high technologies of Armenia.
This educational model is the second program of “SEUA-Synopsys” cooperation. The first program started in 2001 and is the following: during the first years of study on Bachelor program the students of the Departments of Computer Systems and Informatics, Cybernetics, Radio Engineering and Communication Means acquire fundamental knowledge in Mathematics, Physics and other scientific disciplines at the University. Then, after the 4th or 5th term good students can study on competitive basis by Synopsys Armenia Educational Department (SAED) program. For that purpose the inter-department Chair of “Microelectronic Schemes and Systems” has been established. This educational model will continue to work parallel with the new educational program.
And the new educational program enlarges the available educational program of SAED, it includes all the educational blocks, starting from the first year of Bachelor course through all four years. This new model proposed by SAED and SEUA is a comprehensive educational program and is intended for both Bachelor and two other programs, Master’s and Ph. D.

In the result of the work done on February 18, 2009 Yerevan-Los Angeles videoconference was organized, during which the first distant lecture was delivered. California Technological Institute Professor Vache Vorberean delivered a lecture to the lecturers and students of the SEUA Department of Cybernetics on the subject “Accelerated Analytical Methods in Bar Scheme Analysis”.
Vache Vorberean is one of famous Professors in the USA, who has delivered lectures in a number of both American and European Universities. He is famous for his contribution in the field of force electronic chains technique modeling. He has published more than 40 articles in world famous scientific magazines and journals. Innovation in the Sphere of Chemistry
By
the project jointly developed by Gagik Varderesyan, Associate Professor of the
Chair of Theoretical Chemistry of the Department of Chemical Engineering and
Environmental Engineering and AAPS purposeful research and production
experimental works on the purpose of investment were carried out in the
direction of improvement of the technological process of purification of
flow-waters polluted by mineral oils (100 cub.m./h.).
Research and production experimental works were carried out under the direct supervision of Assoc. Prof. G. Varderesyan.
Long-lasting works gave positive results. The mentioned new materials not only do not surrender to the traditional ones by their technical characteristics, but also exceed them by economic profit. Ensuring the allowed borderline norms of productivity of purification of flow-waters polluted by mineral oils (0,15 to 0,3 mg./l.) the annual economic profit made up $150 000 US. In the result of the mentioned operations the important problem of being released of the use of a large number of different chemical reagents was solved as well.
The new purifiers were introduced in the production purificators of the production department of the “Armenian Atomic Power Station” CJSCo.G. Varderesyan has developed technical conditions of use and production of corresponding purifiers, which are produced by a special technology and are provided by the production company “Ecopearlite” OJSCo.
