The Chair of Manufacturing Engineering General Information The Chair of Manufacturing Engineering is one of the constituent parts of the Department of Machine-building of SEUA. It prepares specialists on Manufacturing Engineering 120100-(a 5-year training). The graduates are awarded the qualification of an Engineer-mechanic (a Diplomaed Engineer) with an opportunity to continue their education for the Research-Engineer's Degree Machine-building providing all the branches of economy with new equipment determines, in the whole, the technical progress of a state. The concept "Manufacturing Engineering" is defined as "a doctrine about the art of producing quality machines with the least expenses". Manufacturing Engineering includes all the production phases of any machine, from the technological preparation to designing of workshops and factories. Manufacturing Engineering is a wide-profile specialty whose sphere of activity is not limited to the framework of certain industries. The thorough knowledge acquired at Engineering University, mastering various engineering and computer design programs, enables the specialists to work with identical success both at the largest metal-working factories, and at the industrial enterprises of various structures and purposes and also in research and design institutes. These circumstances provide the specialists with a significant advantage under the existing conditions of market relations. Depending on the needs of machine-building branches, the Chair prepares engineers-technologists for machine-tool, motor-car constructions, electromechanical engineering, instrument making and for other branches of machine-building. From 1992 to 1999, the Chair trained specialists according to the Bachelor program. Being awarded the qualification of a Bachelor of Engineering, the graduates had an opportunity to continue their training for the Master's Degree. At
present the Chair trains Masters of Engineering as well on the specialty
"Machine-building Production"(552900), and also
Research-engineers on the specialty "Technology and Equipment of
Machine-building Production" (050203).
